Katina Castillo

Before joining the CJNY staff, Katina worked in education, youth development and as an advocate for indigenous peoples’ rights.

At the Burns Institute, Katina serves as CJNY Western Regional Manager with a focus on training and curriculum development, responding to the needs of members currently in CA, AZ, WA, NM, and TX. She also provides consultation on best practices for community engagement within contracted juvenile probation sites across California. She is particularly interested in trauma and how manifests in juvenile justice disparities. She has been working intimately with Native communities impacted by the system to develop strategies for populations facing the most difficult challenges.

Katina holds a BA from UC Berkeley and has lived in the Bay Area since 2003.
