Shadi Rahimi
Shadi Rahimi directs all things media for the BI and CJNY. Please contact her for all media-related questions.
Prior to joining the BI/CJNY in 2008, Shadi worked as journalist for publications including The New York Times, The Santa Rosa Press Democrat, The St. Petersburg Times, The Oakland Tribune and The San Francisco Bay Guardian. She has a Master's from the U.C. Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism and is the recipient of journalism awards including a Chips Quinn Fellowship from the Freedom Forum, and a Middlebury College Fellowship in Environmental Journalism. She freelances for Indian Country Today and is the co-founder of Seventh Native American Generation (SNAG), which provides media and arts education for youth. She is also a member of the National Iranian American Council, the Arab and Middle Eastern Journalists Association and assists groups including the Iranian human rights organization OMID Advocates with media work.
Shadi is also a member of a media coalition of the Act 4 JJ campaign, assisting in education efforts around the reauthorization of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency and Prevention Act (JJDPA). At the BI/CJNY, she edits and assists in writing publications; maintains two websites and three social networking sites; ghost-writes blogs featured on the Huffington Post; manages online fundraising efforts; produces videos; pitches stories to media; promotes the public image of the Executive Director and nonprofit; and manages photography and video projects.
