Sharon Bean

Sharon Bean has been working with system stakeholders and community partners to implement justice reforms and reduce the unnecessary incarceration of both kids and adults in the state of NJ since 2003, first as a Research and Reform Specialist implementing Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative for the NJ Juvenile Justice Commission, and currently as the Jail Population Manager for Camden County Department of Corrections. In her role, Sharon oversees Camden’s efforts to rethink jails and to reimagine a justice system that is data driven, equitable and fair, compassionate, and humane. Sharon works to ensure that reform is not just about creating a new program or developing a new policy, it’s about changing the culture and values of the system.
