Zainab Farhat
Zainab Farhat (she/her) is a Senior Associate in the Equity and Inclusion team at the Annie E. Casey Foundation where she organizes racial equity capacity building for her colleagues and connects Casey grantees and partners to racial equity resources and technical assistance to support their individual and organizational goals. Prior to this role, Zainab served as a program associate in the foundation’s Juvenile Justice Strategy group where she led their youth engagement work with young people involved in the juvenile and adult legal systems and supported work to end the youth prison model. Zainab’s experience prior to joining the Foundation includes organizing with justice-involved young people and advocating for students facing disciplinary hearings by their schools in southeast Michigan. She also spent several years working with high school students in the Chicago Public School system, which deepened her passion for dismantling systemic racism. Zainab’s educational background includes a Master of Social Work in Management of Human Services (2018), a Master of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education (2018), and a Bachelor of Science in Movement Science (2012) from the University of Michigan.
