James Bright is a member of the Social Justice and Well-being team with the W. Haywood Burns Institute. James joined the W. Haywood Burns Institute in 2018, beginning as a bookkeeper and supporting day to day finance and operations. James was born in Louisiana and partially raised in Oakland, California. His professional experience includes serving in the Louisiana National Guard and over a decade of experience as a Bail Bondsmen in the Bay area. His education background includes Sociology and Criminal Justice with Southern University of Baton Rouge A & M. James background and personal experiences with the justice system has afforded him critical opportunities to learn, understand and meaningfully serve the needs of his community and its members. The mission of the Haywood Burns Institute aligns powerfully with James’ commitment to serving communities of color in the pursuit of justice, fairness and equity.
