Sefanit (Sofe’) Mekuria received her BS in Human Physiology from Boston University, her MD from Boston University School of Medicine, and her Master in Public Health from University of California, Berkeley. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at Kaiser Oakland and a Preventive Medicine Residency through the California Department of Public Health.

She has worked in many roles throughout Contra Costa Health Services and now serves as a Deputy Health Office for Contra Costa and the Medical Director for Public Health. Through her roles she has supported many different projects and programs within Contra Costa Health Services. For fun, Sofe’ enjoys making greeting cards using crayons, making pottery, hiking, djing, and taking walks with her dog.
